So, how is it that Chinese kids get such high scores in school, but are willing to work for $2 an hour?

No. I mean they always are saying that Chinese kids score higher in school than the US kids, but they grow up and work for cheap.

around here the parents (the ones who immigrated here) ar the ones who work their asses off at low paying jobs and their kids get super grades and become professionals and live good lives. I don't know too many that get good educations and go back to working at low paying jobs.

That would suck to have to work your ass off like that for your kids, but I guess I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing for mine. I wouldn't want my kid working in some sweat shop in China putting Nikes together for $1.50 an hour either.

most immigrants that come here do that, it's the ones that are second generation that don't work as hard but i defnintly couldn't work as hard as my mom did, she worked at a bank during the day and then at a chinese restaurant in the evenings, i hardly ever saw her, it was tough on me but she was a single mom, what do you do? anyways, we lived in a new house with a relatively new car and one day she says to me that she's out of debt, house and car paid off, i was around 13 years old, I don't know anyone who has ever done that, even with 2 working people. She sacrificed in a way that most can't to pay off all her shit, getting clothes sent to her form the philippines, brining lunch every day etc.

That's pretty much what happened to me when I tried to get a job at the liquor store a couple years ago.
